About the EBRD

The EBRD (European Bank of Reconstruction and Development) is an international finance institution that was founded in April 1991 to 'foster the transition towards open market-oriented economies and to promote private and entrepreneurial initiative'. The Bank is owned by 71 countries including Türkiye, as well as the European Union and the European Investment Bank.

Apart from financing the private sector, the EBRD provides advisory support to Micro- and small-medium-sized companies (MSMEs) in a wide range of areas, from strategy to operations, quality management, financial reporting, energy efficiency and more. The EBRD’s local consultants and international experts introduce the latest best practice, helping MSMEs become more competitive and grow.

MSMEs needs access to know-how, network and skills to help them innovate and succeed. In addition to today’s challenging economic conditions, factors such as the COVID-19 pandemic have pushed MSMSEs to a serious need for digitalisation. However, digitalisation is a complex process for many MSMEs.

Within the scope of its MSME advisory programme, the EBRD has developed the "Digital Barometer" tool to help MSMEs identify the challenges of their digitalisation journeys and provide guidance through the EBRD Digital Barometer road map, mentoring, training, and advisory services.
